The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient-s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient-s requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit-s/area-s/ department-s policies and procedures

Qualifications

EDUCATION

 

High school graduate. Completion of a medical assisting program and certification required.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

1-2 years in clinical setting

 

SPECIAL SKILLS

 

Ability to read, write, and understand the English. Basic clerical skills with experience in computer/fax and medical terminology. Knowledge of basic patient care. Demonstrates the ability to understand and learn care of children including feeding, changing and obtaining vital signs. Proficient in management of stock items. Is able to work closely with physician and clinic personnel to maintain patient flow in the clinic. Must possess a mature sympathetic and caring attitude with the ability to be sensitive to the varied needs of the Pediatric clinic population. Must be flexible, cooperative, and able to meet the demands of the position using appropriate communication techniques.

 

PHYSICAL DEMAND

 

Standing/walking most of the day and occasionally working in awkward positions. Helps lift heavy objects ten (10) to twenty (20) pounds and also assists in moving of patients ranging from one (1) to two hundred (200) pounds. Moderate stress related to patient care. May be exposed to infectious diseases, hazardous waste. Moderate stress from patient care.
