  • Overview

To be part of our organization, every employee should understand and share in the YNHHS Vision, support our Mission, and live our Values. These values—integrity, patient-centered, respect, accountability, and compassion—must guide what we do, as individuals and professionals, every day.

Labor and Delivery is comprised of 9 LDRs, 6 Maternal Fetal Medicine beds, 1 observation room, 2 OR suites and a 2 bed recovery room.  Our patient population includes the care of patients within childbearing years from adolescence to mature adulthood.  We provide diagnostic evaluation and treatment of pregnancy related conditions as well as a multitude of medical conditions for our high risk antepartum patients and our intrapartum patients starting at 15 weeks to full term. We also provide pre-term and treatment of underlying maternal medical disease. In addition to our inpatients we also care for a considerable number of outpatients who require NSTs or extended observational care.  Our nurse patient ratio is 1:2 until second stage which is 1:1, for antepartum patient ratios are 1:3 dependent on acuity.  Our shifts are 7:00am-7:30 pm and 7:00pm-7:30am. Our care team consists of Nurse Clinicians, Physicians, Surgical Techs, Obstetrical Resource Assistants, Unit Secretary and a dedicated housekeeping staff as well as Neonatology and Perinatology support and a dedicated Patient Safety Nurse covering L&D and NICU.  We perform approximately 240 births per month. All of our physicians are private practice and we have an in house Hospitalist coverage 24/7.  We are dedicated to providing high quality family-centered care working collaboratively with all of our Women’s and Children’s Services.
